Hi Sky Emmaus Community Newsletter
October, 2009 - Page 1
Message from the Community Lay Director
Before I launch into my monthly blurb, I have a few things I’d like to remind you of:
- PLEASE if you have not entered your updated information on the new database on the HiSky website please do so. Even I was able to do it and I am technically challenged. I still have a microwave that still blinks 12:00!
- PLEASE start making plans to sign up a young person right now that you know would like to go on a Chrysalis flight next summer. Let’s fill both flights up in 2010!
Thank you
Good Morning, Good morning Good morning, that reminds me of Frankie that use to cook at Circle 6. What a testimony she was! She had such an upbeat spirit. And those wacky hats she wore, my goodness, it always brings a smile when I think of her.
I used to work with a fellow Emmaus-ite lady who was visiting with me one day, and she was relaying to me some things that were happening in her life that were not so good. She did, however, ask me, “What if we look back and realize these are the good days?” Later on, about 6 months later, that question was quite prophetic for her. I, myself experienced something similar about 5 years ago. I recall having to go to Best Buy on the way home from work, because my wife called and said the dryer had just gone kaput (that is a legitimate word, looks funny, huh?). Anyway, I was grumbling and mumbling about my untimely misfortune and was dismayed at how we could not afford such an expense at this time. I was lamenting about all my woes. Two weeks later, my Mom found out her cancer came back for the 19th time and one month later, my son-in-law Brian Baker was killed in Iraq. Ever since then I have tried my best to enjoy every moment, for everyday. So now I have the mindset that every day is a good day, and regardless of my trials, I “may” refer back to these days as the good days.
I can tell you beyond a shadow of a doubt, that ever since my Walk to Emmaus, my life has been amazing. Isn’t the Walk to Emmaus an amazing instrument? I had a pilgrim from the last walk ask me, “Dusty, when does this high from the Walk wear off?” to which I replied sincerely, “I will let you know!” It still hasn’t worn off. God bless you.
