Message from the Community Lay Director

Deaestr Community,

Another month gone by and what a wonderful May Community celebration! It was so nice and wonderful to see and visit with all the previous Lay Directors, Flight Directors and Journey Directors.  It was fun to have potluck before and visit afterwards.  It was the best of both worlds.  Remember it will be before the meeting again this month as well!  I would like to thank all of those who helped make that such a special Community Meeting. There was a lot of preparation by many people and, from everything I heard, it was an overwhelming success.  I thank every one of you for your efforts and attendance. It was FUN!

Every once in awhile (despite our efforts or desires), we, the Community, run into a setback. This month, much to everyone’s chagrin, the Boys Chrysalis Flight was canceled, a second time. I cannot describe how difficult this was for everyone concerned, especially for Greg, the team itself, and the Caterpillars. However, I am a firm believer that when one door closes… well, you know the rest.  I am sorry it was canceled, more than you know.

It is the board’s intention (based on feedback from the community) to put together a steering committee and accomplish the following things:

1. Devise a plan to bring Chrysalis back to or exceed the prominence that it once held.
   
   
2. Devise a plan on how and when that will be accomplished.
   
   
3. Include everyone who has a strong interest to become involved and expend the energies and resources to guarantee its success.

I am grateful to be connected to a Community that is resilient and faithful and will rebound in a mighty way.  Again, we did have the Girls Flight make and Iris’ Walk is full. God is good, all the time. Please continue to encourage all to come to community meetings, candlelight services and closing ceremonies.
