Message from the Community Lay Director

Hello, you wonderful fellow Emmaus-ites,

I hope this newsletter finds you safe, happy, rested and blessed.  I was shopping in Hobby Lobby the other day, trying to be creative on a home project (July 4th, this was July 3rd) and I turned a corner and there were some Christmas decorations at the very back that I have not seen before this early in the year.  It seems like every year, the retail stores start earlier and earlier for the holidays.  It occurs to me, because I am sharper than a marble (humor), that maybe planning that far in advance pays huge dividends.

Just to give you an update on what is transpiring within our community, there are a lot of projects and planning going on. There is a steering committee for Chrysalis that is going to meet and come up with some heavy duty plans to bring Chrysalis back to the prominence it once had. We have acquired the services of a data base management company that is specifically designed for Emmaus and recommended by the Upper Room Community on which members will be able to update and verify information online.  The data base is progressing quickly and if you have any old or new walk information that can be entered, please contact Peg Geer or Heidi Anderson.  As far as the raw data, it is already entered.  We now need previous Walk Team Lists and/or lists of Pilgrims.  This database is coming together at a rampant rate. Carol’s Closet is close to being utilized, and we plan on moving to Carol’s Closet this month in terms of storage. So, in summary, plans are being made, tasks are getting accomplished and the walks are full.  God is good, all the time.

August will be upon us very soon and that means we will all become busy again, with back to school, football, cooler weather, etc.  It doesn’t seem like the year is already half way gone. Time flies when you are having fun.  Emmaus… isn’t it fun?  Keep your eyes on the Lord and have love in your heart. Let’s keep the momentum going and fill the last two walks of 2009.
