Message from the Community Spiritual Director
After hours at the computer trying to organize a family vacation for 15 people, I decided that I should seek the help of a professional. I went to a nearby travel agency and was greeted at the door by a somewhat shabby looking young man. He wasnt particularly well dressed and apparently he hadnt sat in a barbers chair for some time. I was skeptical that this young man would be any more apt to complete the reservations than I would have been on the internet. I gave him all the details of my dream family vacation and told him a little about the homework I had already done concerning our travel plans. He was extremely polite, listening intently to every detail I gave him. Then when it was his turn to talk (about 12 minutes later), he made a really great suggestion. His idea was completely different from mine, but honestly his was much better. As I sat listening to him, I was impressed with the passion in which he spoke of ports of call, land excursions, onboard activities and lavish banquets. I was ready to sign on the dotted line. This was going to be great. This young man was the quintessential salesman.
Recently, in an Emmaus board meeting, our Lay Director said that he wanted to be the best sales person for Hi Sky there had ever been. Looking back over the years I can recall many such passionate individuals. As a matter of fact, looking around today I see many that have great fervor for enlisting men and women to experience a walk weekend. I really like that. My travel agent was speaking from first-hand knowledge; he had experienced something wonderful and was excited to share it with my family. Sounds like a Walk to Emmaus doesnt it? Perhaps you know someone who could use a good sales job; either to attend an upcoming walk, or maybe, just maybe to re-connect with community activities. Share your passion and enthusiasm for Hi Sky Emmaus with others. Its possible that you could win the Salesman of the Year award. You think?
