Message from the Community Spiritual Director

February is celebrated as the month of love. Candy, flowers, cards, music and fine dining – all of these are expressions of heart-felt love. Romance is something we all desire, even if macho men won’t admit it. I ’ve seen an incredible outpouring of love in our community, especially in the past several weeks. Men and women with candles held high, food and gift agape (love) in abundance, full walks, walks with waiting lists, eager team members, excited butterflies, and numerous other expressions of love.

What is the source of all these acts of love? Love is first in Paul’s list of fruits of the Spirit in Galatians 5. You – yes you – are bearing spiritual fruit, with every act of agape. And this fruit is tasty in the hearts and lives of every recipient. And amazingly, it is the fruit that is nurturing and sustaining our community. No greater love has any man than this, that he lay down his life for a friend. That kind of love surrounds each pilgrim. It is men and women laying aside their busy schedule, their jobs, their family and their free time just to serve someone else. It’s people loving one another. Our community is strong because of your love. Thank you for loving one another.
