Girls’ Flight #44 - July 22-25, 2010
The team of Girl's Flight 44 is well under way with preparations – two team meetings with lots of laughter, a few tears, yummy food and 4 powerful talks. The team is looking forward to sharing the love of God with a full flight of girls aged 15-19. We will be accepting applications and agape sign-ups at the next community meeting. This flight takes off July 22 – 25. As this article is being written, we have 5 caterpillars registered and plenty of room for more. Please continue to pray for God's weekend and for all the girls who will be coming our way, including those you would like to share this experience with. We truly feel the team God has put together will bless the socks off the caterpillars (as if they wear socks) as we share God’s love with them! We all thank you in advance for gobs of gift and food agape.
Fly with Christ,
Ann Driver, Flight Lay Director
Boys Flight #45 - July 29-August 1, 2010
Guys' Chrysalis Flight #45 has enjoyed two team meetings that have been nothing less than annointed! Prayer, music, talks and fellowship among the team has guaranteed the best flight ever! We are looking forward to the flight taking off July 29 - August 1.
Right now we have four crucial needs – First, we will need prayer for every aspect of the flight from team meetings through closing. Second, we need sponsors! We need at least 18 more young men to complete the form, get the signatures, submit the fee and get registered...that means we really need 18 sponsors! Third, we are needing 1-2 spiritual dudes..., and Fourth, we need snickerdoodles! Next team meetings are June 25 and 26 (I guess 5 needs...lunch for the Saturday team meeting would be great!). Alan Barkley is our board rep; Randy Cloyd is coordinating the outside team, and Derrick Looney is the Spiritual Director. And, with the members of the Hi Sky Emmaus Community, we have the best team ever!

Chrysalis Committee –Need a great present for a high school youth? How about sending them on a Chrysalis Flight this summer (2010)? The Flights are the end of July (Girls July 22-25; Boys July 29-Aug. 1) and similar to your Walk experience (except the talks are given from a youth perspective, including a marriage talk and single life talk). Wouldn't it be life changing to send them to a weekend of love and inspiration to help them deepen their faith and know our God on a very personal level to develop their own faith, strong and true? Applications are on the web site and the cost is only $150 for this year. In 2011, the flight fee will be $200, as it is for walks beginning in September 2010. Hurry, though, as time is running close to get these flights filled!

Gatherings Committee – The Community meetings for the year 2010 are being held on the fourth Tuesday of each month at First United Methodist Church, 300 N. Main Street, downtown Midland, beginning at 7:00 PM (Babe Chick meetings at 6:15). The walk crosses displayed at the April 27th, 2010 Community meeting were those of Kerry Mansour [2] (MW 191, April 2010 and Chrysalis Flight #39, July 2007), Ron Hopkins (MW 185 – Apr. 2009), and Alan Barkley (Chrysalis Flight #34, June 2005). Those displayed at the May 25th, 2010 Community meeting were provided by Kathy Hagler (WW#180–Aug ’08), Whitney Lanier Groves (Fl. #35–July ’05) and DeDe Willis (Journey #1–July ’99 and Flight #40–June ’08). Remember we will have a time for fellowship and refreshments after each Community meeting. ALSO, REMEMBER TO BRING SOME FOOD TO SHARE. We would like to thank those of you who have been faithful to bring food and help with set up and clean up. Being together and sharing in a time of laughter and affirmation is such a special part of Emmaus. We look forward to seeing each of you at the June 22nd, 2010 Community Meeting for a great time of fellowship and thanksgiving for all that God has done for us and the great work He is doing in our Emmaus Community.

Fourth Day Committee – As we continue with our 2010 Men's and Women’s Walks and the Boys and Girls Flights, we hope all of you who have been honored to serve as ALD's, LD's, Table Leaders and Assistant Table Leaders will keep in mind that it is very important for you to follow up with these Pilgrims and Caterpillars over the next year. We build our community and strengthen our outreach by encouraging participation by both our veterans and our rookies. You all remember how overwhelming community can be when you are there by yourself and that ittakes working walks and being involved before you really feel comfortable as a part of the Emmaus Community. Please continue your stewardship of these precious Pilgrims and Caterpillars by going to pick them up for community, or making sure if they are at community you visit with them, or including them or helping them in their reunion group search. Our sponsors will help us with this as well but as a participant in the walks, you have a completely different connection with these folks who have attended the weekends. Please help us to spread God's love by finding ways to keep these new members connected. The blessing of the Walks and Flights can be increased tenfold if we can get these Pilgrims and Caterpillars included in working the weekends, and it so blesses our community to have new people coming on board.
