The motion passed unanimously, and Dusty Roach, Community Lay Director, is to call the nominees for their acceptance and availability for the walk dates set for 2010. A decision on Chrysalis Lay Directors is to be delayed until the Chrysalis Steering Committee meets and makes decisions.
New Purple Workship Book/Community
Dusty Roach indicated that the changes in the new worship book are “not that bad”. Heidi Anderson will put the liturgy on power point. Sandra Fussell felt the prayers in the new book for the service are much better than in the old book. We will continue to have the new books available at community meetings with the advice that they cost $1.25 each, but ask for donations. Because the prayers have changed in the worship book, they will need to be changed in the Lay Director books as well. The language concerning the Dying Moments service has changed – uses two loaves of bread – one for leaving the burdens at the cross, and the second for the communion service.
Team Selection Committee Vacancies
Several names of community members were suggested as possible replacements on the committee for those who had resigned. Iris is to call several of the people suggested about their willingness to serve.
Trailer/Carol’s Closet/Dates
It was reported that Eli Kuhlmann will sandblast the sea container in preparation for painting. Jerry Fussell is ready and waiting to build shelves in the unit and had asked if there was any particular design needed. Dusty Roach reported that a caliche pad/ramp is to be built for entry into the sea container.
Books for Growth Through Study Talk
Larry Bailey handed out two sheets setting out arrangement possibilities with both the Upper Room and Mardel Book Store. After discussion on these two alternatives, it was decided to go with Mardel books. Larry suggested that a designated person (or two) select books and a person be responsible for the account. Eli and Shelly Kuhlmann were chosen to sign, deliver and return the books. There will need to be a change made in the pilgrim letter sent by the Registrar concerning taking money to the walk to buy books. The old books currently at the storage facility can be donated to the Friends of the Library.
The minutes of the regular May 28, 2009 board meeting and the special called meeting of June 10, 2009 were submitted by Carol Hopkins for approval. Motion was made and seconded that both sets of minutes be approved as submitted; and the minutes were approved unanimously.
Dusty Roach reported he had attended a community meeting in Big Spring for the Signal Mountain community, which meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month. Their Community Lay Director, and Community Spiritual Director had indicated their community was having many of the same problems we have had. They indicated they were interested in joint community efforts, but were leary about alliances. It was suggested that each might fill gaps on the other’s teams.
Women’s Walk #186 – July 9-12, 2009
Iris Hall-Sanders reported her team is full after replacing a dropped ALD. She felt all had worked together to make it happen. She advised the following Saturday would be her last team meeting and asked that prayer continue for all.
Men’s Walk #187 – September 17-20, 2009
Jack Harvey reported his team list is full with the exception of one Assistant Spiritual Director. Sandra Fussell suggested Larry Bailey for that position.
Music/Entertainment
Sandra Fussell remarked that the music for the May community meeting had gone too long. Bill Thomas is to try to curb the length of music in the future before the community meeting begins.
No other committee reports were given.
Closing Prayer
Sandra Fussell offered a closing prayer.
