July, 2009 - Page 4
Chrysalis Flight #42 June 11-14, 2009
Chrysalis Flight 42 was small but powerful. The Flight Crew worked hard to create an atmosphere asking God to come along for the ride, and He and 19 Butterflies joined in on a weekend of spiritual growth and praise. Albert Hall served us well on his first term as the Spiritual Director and Shawn Bustamante led a music team of girls that just blew us all away in praise and worship. The Servant Team appreciated all the Community who provided a bounty of food and drink as well as all the wonderful agape gifts. We were showered with really, really nice gifts and with the Holy Spirit. As an offering to thank our God for His gifts, the Flight agreed to put their Faith into Christian Action by working a day or two with Habitat for Humanity. Also stop by the main drink booth on Vendor Row at Rock the Desert and see your Chrysalis Girls helping the crowd cool down while worshiping. Chrysalis forty-two has been set up on Facebook for all of us to keep in touch and serve as a "Reunion Group" with this group of girls who are spread out from Iraan to Lubbock to Fort Worth. Praise God for all the efforts and outcomes of God's Flight 42.
Fly with Christ,
Barbara Willis, Flight Lay Director
Womens Walk #186 July 9-12, 2009
All I can say is: God is good and WW#186 is alive and well and looking forward to what God is going to do in the lives of all who will attend the walk and in the lives of those who have been a part of the preparation for this walk. I want to convey to the Emmaus Community my heartfelt thanks for everything that has been done in preparation of this walk. Prayers are always needed. Prayer works!!

Iris Hall-Sanders, Walk Lay Director
Men's Walk #187 – September 17-20, 2009
Men's Walk 187 Sept 17-20th is coming together. God has blessed me with an amazing team, and 9 pilgrims to date. So don't wait until the last minute to get a pilgrim you know signed up. I know this will be the Walk Of all Walks, which is why all I can say is WOW!! God is soooooo AWESOME. I have felt Him in every aspect of this walk already starting with the team He has put together. Our first team meetings are July 24th and 25th, and I just can't wait to see what God has in store for those days. Thanks and many blessings to all who have given their time and prayers for this walk. I ask the community to continue to pray for the team and pilgrims. Thank you and many Blessings to all.
Jack Harvey, Walk Lay Director
Committee Reports
Agape Committee This community’s generosity in sending food, gift agape and, most importantly, prayer for the walks this year. We greatly appreciate all the efforts of those of you who have continued to contribute your gift agape to the walks and would ask that new members and reunion groups, and those that might have drifted away in their participation, consider new and different contributions to future walks. If you need agape ideas, there are many resources I can give you. Thanks in advance for your loving generosity, and may God continue to bless you.
I will be listing here each month the walks and flights that are going on in other communities. Our prayers are requested for each of these walks, just as we request prayer from them for our walks. A list of walks in July and August 2009 for which we should be in prayer is available here (PDF document).
De Colores, Carol Hopkins, Agape Chairperson
Team Selection Committee – Team Selection Committee will be meeting July 13, 2009, to select a team for WW#188, Martha Manulik, LD. Please continue to pray for all the Walks, the Lay Directors, Pilgrims and the Emmaus Community. If you are interested in working a Walk and/or a Chrysalis, please let any Board member know. Thanks to the Team Selection Committee for their
time and willing spirits.
De Colores, Iris Hall-Sanders, Team Selection Chair
Administration Committee –
- Book Table – Please read the special article about the new arrangements for the Book Table for the Grow Through Study talk.
Gatherings Committee – The Community meetings for the year 2009 are being held on the fourth Tuesday of each month at Wilshire Park Baptist Church, 801 S. Bentwood (corner of Bentwood and Pleasant), with our next meeting being on Tuesday, July 28 beginning at 7:00 PM (Babe Chick meetings at 6:15). The beautiful walk cross displayed at the June 23rd meeting was Barbara Willis Chrysalis Flight #42, Gathering time HAS CHANGED to 6:15 so REMEMBER TO BRING A COVERED DISH and come early for fellowship. Being together and sharing in a time of laughter and affirmation is such a special part of Emmaus. I would like to say thanks to those of you who have been faithful to bring food and help with set up and clean up.
I am looking forward to seeing each of you at the July Community Gathering for a great time of fellowship and thanksgiving for all that God has done for us
De Colores, Carolyn Arnold, Gatherings Committee Chair
Fourth Day Committee – As we approach our next Women's Walk, I hope all of you who have been honored to serve as ALD's, LD's, Table Leaders and Assistant Table Leaders will keep in mind that it is very important for you to follow up with these Pilgrims and Caterpillars over the next year. We build our community and strengthen our outreach by encouraging participation by both our veterans and our rookies. You all remember how overwhelming community can be when you are there by yourself and that it takes working walks and being involved before you really feel comfortable as a part of the Emmaus Community. Please continue your stewardship of these precious Pilgrims and Caterpillars by going to pick them up for community, or making sure if they are at community you visit with them, or including them or helping them in their reunion group search. Our sponsors will help us with this as well but as a participant in the walks, you have a completely different connection with these folks who have attended the weekends. Please help us to spread God's love by finding ways to keep these newbies connected. The blessing of the Walk can be increased tenfold if we can get these Pilgrims and Caterpillars included in working the weekends, and it so blesses our community to have new people coming on board.
Music Committee – Is Music one of your talents? Have you ever wanted to be on a Music Team on a walk? Do you play Guitar, Piano, Bass, or any other type of musical instrument? The community needs your talent and encourages you to call or email Bill Thomas (638-8772 or thomasfh@suddenlinkmail.com).
Chrysalis Committee – Wilma Stirl will head up a committee of past Lay Directors to study how our Community can support and encourage the Chrysalis movement.. They will report to the Board with suggestions and ideas to strengthen this once-a-year activity and make sure the Flights are well attended and well led. If you have any comments, questions, suggestions, or criticisms, PLEASE contact Wilma or me.
