Chrysalis Flight #42 – June 11-14, 2009

As we make plans for our final Flight Crew 42 team meeting, we are covered in prayer and anticipating an overabundance of blessings from God. While the flight is not quite full of young ladies yet, all of us have asked our Lord to bless our efforts and watch over us as we serve whoever He sends.  The Team has spent several days enjoying the Christian fellowship He allows a group as they transform into a team. The talks will be uplifting and the agape we have already received is just too wonderful. Thank you to all of the Community who have given so generously of your time, efforts and money.  Many of you have helped financially for the caterpillars, but we still have some financial needs (that God will help cover) for some of the college girls on the team. Contact Barbara Willis if you could help.  Please keep all of Flight 42 in your prayers and come to Candlelight to see the bright glowing faces of the next generation of Emmaus leadership! God Bless all of you.
Fly with Christ,
Barbara Willis, Flight Lay Director

Women’s Walk #186 – July 9-12, 2009

WOW!  The first team meetings were awesome and the Holy Spirit was in the meetings.  The services on Friday night and Saturday were brought by Robert Kirk, Spiritual Director and the messages were very moving and Spirit filled. Betsy Evans, Macky Pitts and Robert Kirk previewed their respective talks and they were truly a blessing.  The Pilgrims are going to be blessed beyond measure.  The music team, Lori Bivens, Pam Stefanov and Linda Ireland did a wonderful job of uplifting us with music and encouraging us through song and worship. The team is full and, as of June 2, 2009, there were 36 Pilgrims signed up, with four more on our waiting list.  Praise God!!  We have an awesome team and a Spirit-filled Spiritual Team: Robert Kirk, Macky Pitts, Dean Cook and Sandra Fussell.  The Servant team is making preparations for their service and they had such sweet spirits and servants’ hearts at the first team meetings.  Janis Chapman, Chris Hines’ Reunion Group, Ana Con Dios, and Gloria Kennedy from Closer Walk Reunion Group provided the lunch meal on Saturday.  Many heartfelt thanks to them for the lunch.  Many thanks to Elizabeth Carroll, Logistics Coordinator; Linda Bisbee, Food Coordinator and Melissa Harrell, Agape Coordinator, for their servants’ hearts.  I am honored to serve with and among this team.  Please continue praying for the team, Pilgrims, and Emmaus Community.  The next Team Meetings will be June 6, 2009 and June 20, 2009.  God bless!
De Colores,
Iris Hall-Sanders, Walk Lay Director

Committee Reports

Agape Committee –I continue to be amazed at the community’s generosity in sending food and gift agape for the walks this year.  We greatly appreciate all the efforts of those of you who have continued to contribute your gift agape to the walks and would ask that new members and reunion groups, and those that might have drifted away in their participation, consider new and different contributions to future walks.  If you need agape ideas, there are many resources I can give you.  Thanks in advance for your loving generosity, and may God continue to bless you.

I will be listing here each month the walks and flights that are going on in other communities.  Our prayers are requested for each of these walks, just as we request prayer from them for our walks.  A list of walks in June and July 2009 for which we should be in prayer is available here.

De Colores, Carol Hopkins, Agape Chairperson

Team Selection Committee – Team Selection Committee met May 7, 2009, to select a team for Men’s Walk #187, Jack Harvey, Lay Director.  Team members for the walk were selected and Jack Harvey has begun calling those selected.  Please continue to pray for all the Walks, the Lay Directors, Pilgrims and the Emmaus Community.  If you are interested in working a Walk and/or a Chrysalis, please let any Board member know.  Thanks to the Team Selection Committee for their time and willing spirits.

Gatherings Committee – The Community meetings for the year 2009 are being Photoheld on the fourth Tuesday of each month at Wilshire Park Baptist Church, 801 S. Bentwood (corner of Bentwood and Pleasant), with our next meeting being on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 beginning at 7:00 PM (Babe Chick meetings at 6:15).  The beautiful walk crosses at the May 26th meeting were those of as many of the past walk and Chrysalis/Journey Lay Directors as could be present. We lined up all those crosses on tables on the stage, along with the group pictures from several of those walks. The board and the community want to thank all past lay directors for their presence and participation in the May meeting.  Barbara McIntosh, Lay Director for Hi Sky Women’s Walk #8, led the lay portion of the meeting.  [See the picture at right, which also shows several of the walk crosses.]  We are trying to hold our fellowship with food/snacks/desserts beginning at 6:00 before each meeting, so come early, REMEMBER TO BRING SOME REFRESHMENTS (thanks to those of you who have been faithful to bring food) and join in good Christian fellowship with your Hi Sky Community members.
De Colores, Carolyn Arnold, Gatherings Committee Chair

Fourth Day Committee – As we approach our Chrysalis and Women's Walk, I hope all of you who have been honored to serve as ALD's, LD's, Table Leaders and Assistant Table Leaders will keep in mind that it is very important for you to follow up with these Pilgrims and Caterpillars over the next year.  We build our community and strengthen our outreach by encouraging participation by both our veterans and our rookies.  You all remember how overwhelming community can be when you are there by yourself and that it takes working walks and being involved before you really feel comfortable as a part of the Emmaus Community.  Please continue your stewardship of these precious Pilgrims and Caterpillars by going to pick them up for community, or making sure if they are at community you visit with them, or including them or helping them in their reunion group search.

Our sponsors will help us with this as well but as a participant in the walks, you have a completely different connection with these folks who have attended the weekends.  Please help us to spread God's love by finding ways to keep these newbies connected.  The blessing of the Walk can be increased tenfold if we can get these Pilgrims and Caterpillars included in working the weekends, and it so blesses our community to have new people coming on board.

Music Committee – Is Music one of your talents? Have you ever wanted to be on a Music Team on a walk?  Do you play Guitar, Piano, Bass, or any other type of musical instrument?   The community needs your talent and encourages you to call or email Bill Thomas (638-8772 or thomasfh@suddenlinkmail.com).

Chrysalis Committee – Join the Girl's Chrysalis at Candlelight Saturday the 13th. The task force to propose suggestions on how to rebuild our Chrysalis program will be formed as soon as possible to help these programs be what our Community and God wants them to be, the best for His Glory.  If you are interested in serving on this task force or have ideas, please contact Dusty or me.  And of course, pray for God's guidance.
Barbara Willis, Chairman Chrysalis Committee
