Ramblings from Spiritual Director
Dear Friends,
What a great celebration we had for our 20 year anniversary of Hi Sky Walk to Emmaus Community! We owe many thanks to all who helped to plan, decorate, cook, serve, music, speakers, and all the many tasks involved in putting together such a wonderful event! When Christians work together, great things can be accomplished as we see when we share God's love and grace through the Walk to Emmaus.
There is a poem called "The Beautiful color of Love." It illustrates how we are called to love and to share that love with others. Perhaps you have heard it but I want to share it with you now.
"What color is God, asked the child with skin so fair
Is God white like me, does God have light hair?
Is God dark like me, asked the child with skin of golden hue,
Has God hair that's dark and curly, are God's eyes black or blue?
I think God is red like me, the Indian boy is heard to say
God wears a crown of feathers, and turns our nights to day.
Each one of us knows that God is there in ALL the colors above
But be sure of this, the one color God is, Is the beautiful color of Love!
So when your soul goes to Heaven, when your life comes to its end
God will be waiting and God's hand to you will God extend.
There wil be no colors in Heaven, everyone will be the same.
You will only be judged by your earthly deeds, nor your color or your name.
So when your time comes, and you see God in Heaven above,
Then you will see the only color that counts, is the beautiful color of LOVE!"

As we approach the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons, we all need to stop and think about how we share God's love in our fourth days. Are we truly thankful for the love we have received from God? Do we reach out to share God's love to all those we meet? Do we only reach out to those who are our friends or who are like us? How do we respond to the clerks in the stores, even if they are rude, are we? A cheery smile or a "God bless you" can do wonders for those who are weary from grumpy people. Please reach out to all, so that you will not miss out on God's blessings. God has blessed Hi Sky Emmaus Community and will continue to bless us when we put forth the effort to tell others about Jesus Christ no matter what color! Let's all take ourselves out of God's way and let God's Holy Spirit work in our Walks and in our Community so God's love can be shared with many others!
Happy Thanksgiving!
May God's grace, peace and love be with you all,
Carol Crumpton, SD
