Board Meeting Minutes Summary

Monthly Board of Directors Meeting – August 28, 2007

The Hi-Sky Emmaus Community Board of Directors met at 5:15 P.M. at Grace Presbyterian Church, 2801 N. Garfield Street, Midland, Texas on Tuesday, August 28, 2007.

The meeting was called to order by Beki Moorehead, Community Lay Director, at 5:20 P.M. Carol Crumpton offered an opening prayer followed by all reciting the Prayer to the Holy Spirit.

Walk Reports:

• MW#175 – Sept. 13-16. Ken Arnold reported all his team meetings had been completed, that he currently has 18 pilgrims and is expecting at least two or three more. He indicated he was truly humbled to work with this team and was amazed at what God is doing, that all the team members bring something different that needs to be heard by the pilgrims.
  
  
• WW#176 – Nov. 8-11. Mary Seay reported her basic team is together, but had her Logistics Coordinator back out and needs one more Assistant Spiritual Director. She had sent out her first letter to the team members and talks had been assigned.

Board Minutes: The minutes of the August 9, 2007 Board meeting were presented by Carol Hopkins for approval. Motion was made to approve the minutes as presented, seconded, and the minutes were approved unanimously.

Financials: Ken Arnold presented his financial reports through August 27, 2007, pointing out that the cash flow was the highest it has been all year, the profit and loss statement was also better off than last year, and the net cash provided by operating activities was $5,000 better than in 2006. Ken indicated he would like to see what Circle 6 will charge in 2008. Jack Harvey and Beki Moorehead are to visit with Circle 7. Motion was made that the financials be approved as presented, seconded and the financials were approved unanimously.

Board discussion and action items:

Carol Crumpton had emailed all board members with the names of proposed Spiritual Directors for the 2008 walks, being:

• MW #177 (Paul Anderson) – Billy Everett;
  
• WW #178 (Susan Watson) – Carol Crumpton, Spiritual Director and Susan’s sister, Assistant Spiritual Director;
  
• MW #179 (Bill Thomas) – Roy Smith
  
• WW #180 (Kathy Hagler) – Sandra Fussell;
  
• MW #181 (Roger Traxel) – Jerry Hilton, Spiritual Director and Roy Smith and Steve Tims, Assistant Spiritual Directors;
  
• WW #182 (Debbie Baxter) – Gary Groves

Motion was made that the spiritual directors be approved as a roster, rather than approving each individually; the motion was seconded, and approved unanimously.

Motion was then made and seconded to accept the roster of Spiritual Directors named above; and the motion was approved unanimously.

It was suggested that the Spiritual Directors be approved at the beginning of each year in advance of Lay Directors being approved. Carol Crumpton is to get a full list of Spiritual Directors currently available in the Community. Carol is also to advise the Lay Directors of the board’s approval of the above named Spiritual Directors, and then follow up with those Spiritual Directors after they have been asked to serve by their respective Lay Directors.

With no further business, Beki Moorehead adjourned the meeting at 6:45 P.M.
