Message from the Community Lay Director
Dear Community,
It is good to be home! David and I have just returned from a trip to Oregon to visit family and were able to steal away for a few days to enjoy the countryside where we were raised. We spent a couple of days overlooking the ocean and watching the Pacific Grey whales feeding in the cove that is along their migration route, we ate strawberries fresh from the field and still warm from the sun, and we hiked up and down some magnificent waterfalls.
Standing at the bottom of one waterfall that is tucked away deep in the woods and a difficult hike to get to, the cascading water would strike the rocks and splinter into thousands of drops that would catch and reflect the rays of the sun overhead. Looking up through these diamonds of light I experienced my closest moment to Christ.
It did not come only by seeing His handiwork, but by knowing that this wonder of wonders was not set out where it was easy to see. It was not on the main route. In fact it was quite hidden and would have to be intentionally sought out but there it was, and it was indescribable.
Then the Lord spoke to me about Emmaus and the seeking out of His gifts in the lives of Christians who may not be on the main route, and about the beauty of seeking the wonder of those about us and in finding the differences between us to be a reflection of His light in other diamonds. I do not do the experience justice as I attempt to share it with you now, but you were most certainly there with me!
And here in Midland, some reflections of His light and beauty were witnessed in the sharing of her Fourth Days by Donna Cannon at the Community Meeting last month. Thank you Donna! They were also evident in the mighty work through the Girls Chrysalis. Thank you to Shari Horne and her team, and to this community, for making this experience happen for the very special young women God brought to it.
And now we look forward to more beauty in witnessing God work through the upcoming Walks and the Boys Chrysalis. Please keep those Lay Directors and teams in your prayers and take every opportunity to support them, bearing in mind that it begins on our knees.
And, if I look at you funny, please assume that I am simply enjoying the vision of Gods light reflecting from you.
De Colores!
