Message from the Community Spiritual Director

"ARE YOU LISTENING FOR GOD'S VOICE?"

"America, America, God shed His grace on thee, and crown thy good with brotherhood, from sea to shining sea." As we celebrate another July 4th, we remember how God has truly blessed America. We are blessed to live in a free country where we have all the natural resources available to shelter, feed and clothe us; a place of plenty. We are free to PRAY and worship God in our churches but are we truly thankful for all the many blessings we enjoy yet too often we take for granted. Our fore-fathers had a vision and worked to fulfill that vision to have a land of the free.

In the "Walk to Emmaus" we have a vision of what the church can be as we love each other and as we PRAY for each other and every walk is covered with PRAYER. As we continue to have a vision of how Emmaus can work in so many people's lives, the challenge now is to PRAY for an even greater vision. We need to PRAY and seek God's will, as we listen for God's voice speaking to us. Perhaps you have heard the following but I believe we need to be reminded to constantly PRAY and listen for God's voice.

"GOD'S VOICE"

Once there was a man who dared God to speak.

'Burn the bush like you did for Moses, God. And I will follow.
Collapse the walls like you did for Joshua, God. And I will fight.
Still the waves like you did on Galilee, God. And I will listen.'

And so the man sat by a bush, near a wall, close to the sea and waited for God to speak. God heard the man, so God answered. God sent fire, not for a bush, but for a church. God brought down a wall, not of brick, but of sin. God stilled a storm, not of a sea, but of a soul. And God waited for the man to respond. And God waited... And waited... And waited. But because the man was looking at bushes, not hearts; bricks and not lives, seas and not souls, he decided that God had done nothing. Finally, he looked to God and asked, "Have you lost your power?" And God looked at the man and asked "Have you lost your hearing?"

As this community continues to grow we may have had some growing pains, but remember, this too shall pass. May we continue to love each other and let us move forward as we continue to give thanks for the many blessings we enjoy every day. Give thanks for the past three walks where God has poured out so many blessings!! We can be sure that God heard our PRAYERS. Please pray for the Girls and Boys Chrysalis' that are coming up. Then let us continue to PRAY, first to know what God's new vision is for us but remember to listen for God's Voice!

Grace, peace and love to all,

Carol Crumpton, S.D.
